Ticket Office Mural
For many years the Ticket Office was used by thousands of folk travelling to and from the Black Isle. Locals are always keen to share their memories of the ferries and often have great stories to tell. The ferries are a great talking point.
Many of our locals can recall exactly what it looked like standing at the pier, waiting for the ferry when it was running.
The idea behind the mural came from a summers evening spent sitting in the hotel gardens looking out at the beautiful view we all know and love. The only thing ruining this perfect view was the discoloured gable end of the ticket office.
Seeing the wonderful mural by Marc at FRESHPAINT, of the Beauly Firth that had already been created in the hotel’s garden patio, we thought it would be lovely if locals and visitors could see exactly what it used to look like when the ferry was at the pier.
Thinking about the old ferries that once crossed, the ticket office, and to record the history, we thought a mural of the MV Eilean Dubh would be a very fitting tribute.
By creating a mural to show this we hope that folk can see exactly what it was like all those years ago and it would disguise the gable end of the ticket office.
In consultation with the North Kessock Hotel, we have used a combination of photos to ensure the mural will blend in with the current view and even enhance it. The North Kessock Hotel have made a very sizeable donation to the mural and agreed the design.
We as a board discussed the idea and took it to our members. The members voted and agreed unanimously that it should go ahead and it would be a ‘thank you’ to all the volunteers.
This is our artists impression of what the mural will look like and we hope everyone will appreciate and enjoy it for many years to come. The mural will be completed by Marc at FRESHPAINT.
